LIFE ElderCare is a local non-profit that provides free services & support for Alameda County seniors. If you are 60+ and have no one to help you during the lockdown, LIFE can connect you with your local Meals on Wheels, deliver groceries from the food bank (bags delivered as-is; no specific requests or substitutions), match you with a volunteer “phone buddy”, or help out with other essential support. LIFE ElderCare can also help deliver bags of groceries from the South Hayward Parish or other local food banks.

Please call 510-894-0370, email info@LifeElderCare.org, or sign up at TriCityAtRisk.com. This website is for seniors living anywhere in Alameda County – not just the Tri-city, and also for low-risk volunteers that want to help.

Chavez Supermarket will hold senior hours from 7am-8am. This will be for those over 65, individuals with disabilities, and frontline heroes, first responders.

Safeway will hold senior hours on Tues and Thurs from 7am-9am.

Whole Foods will hold senior hours an hour before opening, times vary by location.

Zanotto’s Markets are going to have “senior hours” for seniors. Those being 8am - 9am.
Zanotto’s will also be taking phone orders for curbside pickup.

Grocery delivery/Pick Up

Currently this is for Alameda County. If you are in need of basic food due to the recent Coronavirus Emergency please fill out the form below. We will do our best to fulfill your requests but this will be subject to availability. This is a complimentary service and we will try to deliver to your address.

Examples of who should take advantage of this assistance include those who are:
Elderly who are living alone.
Living with existing health conditions, such as diabetes, chronic asthma, etc.
Low income/resource

Examples of who should NOT take advantage of this assistance include those who are:
Young and in good health.
Elderly, who have family (young and in good health) that resides with them or nearby.
High income, healthy individuals/family.

Some students may become newly eligible for CalFRESH due to many businesses closing down and having lost their job recently. We would be happy to assist any student or community member in applying for CalFRESH. Pioneer Kitchen (Dining Common remains open) for pick up only.
No reusable to-go containers at this time, disposable container provided.

How this works:

  1. Use your meal swipe or pay at the register.

  2. Choose which items you want and our staff will prepare a to-go container with your food.

  3. Take home your food and enjoy your meal!

Reminder: The Pioneer Kitchen will be closed between service times on Monday – Friday from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM and on Saturday-Sunday from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM for a deep clean.
